Herodotus Novels

The original theatrical reading "Herodotus: Novels" presents for the first time to the general public extracts from the work of Herodotus, which epitomizes the history of the ancient world and provides an overview (geographical, ethnographic, political and cultural) of antiquity. The performance is inspired and concerns novels as free literary creations, characterized by literary style and psychological analysis of the characters through the narration of an imaginary event with dramatic intensity, projecting human behavior and the tragic fate of a person.

The work creates a cultural journey in the ancient world between the contrast of Europe and Asia, the Greek and the Asian. The Greco-Persian conflict with the victory of the Greeks was mainly due to the virtues of the Greeks, free spirit and ideals, which overturned the logic of numbers and made history. The Herodotian reference to the cultural values of the two different worlds demonstrates the overwhelming superiority and categorical opposition of the unruly and creative ancient Greek spirit against the spirit of any illiberal form of state organization of despotism.
